"The Silence of the Yams"

Great line from Michael Pollan's Food Rules. (he's referring to the fact that for lack of packaging and advertising, a Yam can't make any health claims)

  1. Did we ever sort the great Yam vs Sweet Potato issue?
Or is it another one of those "tomato: fruit or veggie?" problems?

  2. DUDE! You changed your banner from Kazu to ME?! I am massively embarrassed but deeply honored.
Now I am really motivated to still look like that when you finish YOUR PCP!

  3. Yam's are deep orange inside, sweet potatoes are very pale yellow.

Satsumaimo are a third kind, with a red skin but pale yellow inside (though it seems to vary with how sweet they are). They're referred to in the US as "Japanese Yams." Eaten plain, they are also the best tasting by far IMHO.

Man, that photo of you is unreal! Most definitely inspirational.

  4. Werd. I love me some satsumaimo!
Now lesse how well I maintain...actually 30% of my results were due to serious cutting of the salt; makes me retain ZERO water, veins popping and skin thin. A good trick actually; the week before my health check I will go full PCP No Salt and that alone I will drop 2 kilos!
